The RCAF Centennial Maples

Beaverworks Mint and the Royal Canadian Air Force Association are proud to announce and to proudly unveil our latest time-limited edition creation: The Royal Canadian Air Force Centennial Maples in both 2.01 Troy Oz of.9999 pure fine gold and 1 Troy Oz.9999 pure fine silver. We are also excited to announce that we have also secured the permission to use the RCAF Centennial Logo in support of our efforts to honour the Centennial anniversary of the formation of the Royal Canadian Air Force. There are no words of humble gratitude meaningful enough to convey our appreciation for this opportunity we have been afforded in producing these works of art.

Designed to elicit the highest level of pride in the finest Air Force in the world, this coin features 100 tiny maple leaves around the perimeter, engraved on Canadian made steel dies, and struck in 2.01 Troy Oz, 9999 fine gold and 1 Troy Oz of fine silver, with precious metal we exclusively use refined by the Royal Canadian Mint to ensure the highest and finest quality in the world today. We have only now completed the arduous task of building new minting system from scratch. It has required over 18000 hours, over $250 000.00 of personal debt and 5 years of dedicated effort to build our new Minting system, upgraded to be able to strike off 24000 coins per day and we are exceptionally excited to be able to bring these to the marketplace as our first major issue release. Our leader, Canadian Artist, Joseph Green B.FA made a promise to finish his dream of completing the 100 Collection and was set back due to unforseen and unexpected sub-contracting termination after we started publishing pictures of our Golden Arrow coin. He made a promise and it has taken this long for him to move our operations into a small farm garage located outside of Edmonton, build and renovate the space, purchase and bring in all the new tooling, upgrade and calibrate our laser engraving systems into a 3D laser engraver and so much more. It is our goal to spring to the finish line of April 1 of keeping our word of honour to the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Canadian Forces and Canadians as a whole. We recently obtained permission to use the Centennial 100 Logo and we have authorisation and this logo, until 31 December at midnight. Between now and then, it is our goal to sell as many as possible and demonstrate the outpouring of support and pride in our beloved Royal Canadian Air Force.

A portion of the proceeds will be provided to the Royal Canadian Air Force Association. It is our goal, to finally be able to resume fabrication and to at last demonstrate after years of toil and sacrifice, that we are a worthy group to not only produce world class minted coins, but to also be able to forward on significant amounts of Royalties to the RCAF Association as a way to say “Thanks for sticking with us all these years.” After a 5 year delay and after committing to the task of learning everything we can about minting, we are at last ready to begin. We of course still have so much more to learn as it is a lovely and everlasting process, but for now, we feel that we are finally now, “Good to Go and Ready for Launch!” These coins feature the protected trade-mark of His Majesty the King, in Right of Canada as Represented by the Minister of National Defence, used under license.

We are beginning with the Centennial Silver Maple as the dies are finished, packaging is finished, our paperboard packaging will arrive shortly and we expect to begin shipping immediately. Given how we are at the absolute beginning of the beginning here, when ordering the Centennial Silver Maple, please allow for 2 weeks for the order to be processed. We say that to give us ample time, however for those collectors who have experienced our turn around time in the past, we generally like prefer to process and ship within a 24 hour period, so as we ramp up, we expect our turn around time to be reduced. We are also in the final stages of processing our back orders and we expect that to be completed prior to shipping any Centennial Silver Maples. Normally we would place a limit on the amount of coins minted, but given the termination date of 31 December, 2024, we want to allow as many Canadians as possible to purchase as many Centennial Silver and Golden Maples as they wish and as we approach that termination date, we will most likely begin the process of placing a cap on how many we eventually end up minting. Each coin has 1 Troy Oz of 99.99% pure silver refined by the Royal Canadian Mint as is struck to a proof level quality and comes packaged inside a coin display slab we custom print here on location. This is our first, un-serialised issue.

-Pictured here is the first prototype Centennial Silver Maple. Due to circumstances beyond our control, these dies are slightly larger than what we ordered for display slabs because we were operating on the assumption that the company we hired to chrome plate our dies would produce a properly prepared die. They didn’t and we had to remake our dies and the only option we had was to use a die 1mm larger in diameter and then we learned all about the proper way to electroplate dies with a hardened protective surface, so we did it ourselves, in keeping with our philosophy of bringing absolutely all aspects of this entire eco-system, all under one roof, unlike our competition, and as such, each of first 250 display slabs will have each of the four support corners slightly trimmed to allow for a proper fit of the coin. After this batch is processed out, then the next batch of display slabs will have a larger hole to accomodate the larger coin. As you can imagine and appreciate, this work is absolutely unforgiving in nature, tolerances are measured in sub-millimetres and having to deal with unreliable suppliers can often throw an unexpected wrench into production. We wanted to clearly express this to demonstrate absolute transparency in this tiny issue. To most people, they won’t notice, but we will….thanks to this process, our eyes are trained in to examine micron level flaws. Never the less, thanks to the purchasing of these slabs, it makes turn around time much faster than previous issues and they encourage people to proudly keep them in a place of high visibility to show them off and not remain hidden. This is the first coin we have issued with a reeded edge and we are super excited about this new issue!

We would also like to announce that we want to provide an incentive for various groups, stores or individuals who perhaps may operate a museum gift shop or commissary on a base, the opportunity to sell our Centennial Silver Maples at the same price of $135.00 we do. For any group or individual interested in selling these at their location, if you purchase 10+ coins, we will offer a $20 reduction per coin as incentive to become a distributor. Please contact us for details.

The Centennial Golden Maple dies are currently in development and we are rushing to have these ready and they will be ready for striking in mid to late October. It is our goal to be ready to ship by no later than the end of October and so, we are confident enough now to finally and at last, take pre-orders for this dream of ours. Each coin is struck from 2.01 Troy Oz of 99.99% fine gold refined by the Royal Canadian Mint and we will provide the serial numbers of the 1 Troy oz bars we use as provenance. Each RCAF Centennial Golden Maple will also be packaged within a similar and custom printed coin display slab. As we ramp up production and distribution of the Silver Maples, it will allow for us to properly source the exact sized slabs.  Each coin is $12500.00 CAD + $100 for shipping, handling and insurance, and can be paid by bank wire, e-transfer, PayPal with a small 4% credit card surcharge or by Bitcoin. We are still considering serialising each coin for this issue.

“As the artist behind this, relentless in the pursuit, dedicated to the cause, it is my personal goal to make every Canadian who experiences this coin, which has a maximum mintage of 208 total and 206 available to the public, make them cry with a profound sense of pride in the Arrow, the RCAF and Canada as a nation. That is my role as an artist. The artwork is not the coin, the artwork is the emotional stimulation that emerges out of the soul and this is the golden painting that elicits that emotion. It is my role as the driving force behind the Golden Arrow is to keep that dream alive and to do so utilising the most advanced packaging seen in the world today. If I don’t make you cry, then I will consider it a personal failure as an artist.” -Joseph

The Golden Arrow

Almost Ready for First Test Flight

-Here is our first Gold Issue, Golden Arrow RL-201. We wanted to show Canadians what our Gold Issue looks like. The Centennial Golden Maple will not have any select plating or full colour printing. We really like the reeded edge look for the Centennial Maples and if we proceed with serialising each coin, then most likely we will have a smooth edge and engrave that face, or we will engrave on the front of the coin. We will also include a couple pairs of latex rubber gloves with each order so collectors can play with it safely and not damage the coin surface with oils from their fingers. The Golden Arrow is still in development, more specifically with the packaging and as we ramp up with the Centennial Maples, we will ramp back into completing the packaging for this issue. The reason why the packaging has taken so long is because it is not your typical packaging. When we discovered that our packaging was copied by our competition, of course we were exceptionally flattered by that, but it also inspired us to ask ourselves the question: “How can we make something so next-level stunning that they would be insane fools to try and copy us?” and well, there is a reason why we haven’t published any final images yet and won’t until the work is finished. The first three collectors, who are absolutely stunning human beings who are like next level characters of inspiration, they have been waiting this whole time, perfectly willing to wait as we finished building our minting system and finished the packaging up to the level where we are happy with it and can be summed up with what one of them said to us: “I want the experience…..”

As we commence with engine restart with our new minting system, we are temporarily pausing accepting any orders for now on anything else but the RCAF Centennial Maples to ensure we can invest all manpower and time exclusively to this unique and time sensitive window of opportunity. However we will resume sales when we feel we are ready. We have no idea as to the demands these two coins will have and want to ensure all resources are allocated towards that project for now. We hope you can understand. However, stay tuned and stay inspired, we will resume with the coins listed below as soon as we feel the time is right. We are a tiny operation and the last thing we want is to get overwhelmed by taking on too much, too soon.

Our objective is to complete the 100 Collection: 100 different coins, celebrating 100 years of the Royal Canadian Air Force, told through precious metals through the production of the absolutely highest levels of minting quality. Below is the catalogue of our work which was unfortunately delayed due to the fact we had to build a coin minting operation from scratch to ensure we could ensure the highest levels of quality and oversee production schedules. This effort has taken 5 years and an 18000 hour of investment  of time and assuming a personal debt in excess of $200 000.00 in order to acquire all the tooling we needed and to acquire all the comprehensive and exceedingly in-depth knowledge required in order to fabricate world class work worthy of the Royal Canadian Air Force. As we get operations re-started, we will ensure that our lovely collectors who have exhibited immense patience will receive their coins. As we bring this immense system online, we will be sequentially restarting production on all coins on back order as soon as possible.

When we started this venture, we began with this coin. We didn’t care how much it cost, we wanted what we wanted. After this was fabricated to our exact standards, we were informed that up until this coin, no other coin in history was ever minted up to this level and by extension set the global precedent in high-end quality. This coin will be available for purchase shortly. Please continue to check back periodically to ensure availability.

We have metal provided to us from the Arrow Program which managed an escape from AVRO prior to the being destroyed. With what little we have, we made a tiny run to share with fellow Canadians. The reverse is laser engraved with a Maple Leaf, Canada word mark and collectors have the option to have their last name engraved.

Of course this issue is dedicated to those Canadians who fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice in the Battle of Britain, however we also wanted to dedicate this coin to our now late dear friend and aerospace mentor Robert “Bob” Diemert. He stated that with his Hurricane, he was able to fly faster than the CT-114 Jet used by the Snowbirds and was able to nearly reach supersonic speeds. He pioneered the Warbirds industry with the rebuild of his Hawker Hurricane which was used in the famous film “Battle of Britain”. He will be sorely missed for his contributions to Canadian Aerospace Research. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/famed-aviator-remembered-following-death-1.7087959This coin will be available for purchase shortly. Of course this issue is dedicated to those Canadians who fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice in the Battle of Britain, however we also wanted to dedicate this coin to the assistant to our aerospace mentor Robert “Bob” Diemert, Chris Ball. Mr. Ball pointed out that we used the wrong variant of Spitfire in the Battle of Britain for our issue. We are exceptionally grateful to him for pointing out our error. He and Bob were a Canadian aerospace tag team and will both be sorely missed. We have since given away these misprints to the friends of Mr. Ball after his passing in his memory. This coin is discontinued and is no longer available.

If you are interested in learning more about the immensely difficult journey I have had to take in order to do this, please click here and read an unvarnished look into my journey I had to take.

The Black Beaver

They tried to destroy our dream, now its our turn to shine!

When I started this, all I wanted to do was to make a beautiful collection of stunning coins. I was expecting that I would have been able to utilise subcontractors in order to assist me. I realised that would not be possible given how our work clearly was too good as evidenced by the fact with our first issue of the Silver Arrow, it ended up setting the global precedent in quality. It turned heads, caught the attention of our competition and well, shortly after we started posting pictures of the Golden Arrow, we had our ability to rely on our subcontractor terminated. I looked all over North America for a suitable replacement, but in every single case, for one reason or another, I was not able to rely upon their scheduling, expertise or something else. I recall exactly where I was when I said “Well, I guess I will just have to build a mint from scratch in order to keep my word.”

I have drawn upon the experience I had with another intensive, multi-year project which was a book I published, a military anthology dedicated to the first four Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan. If you would like to learn more about that, here is the link to the project. It was this project that taught me to never break faith and was subsequently blessed with the dream of an experience of sending the flag of the Third Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry into orbit on STS-115/12A and as a result, was made an Honourary Member of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infranty, a distinction only given to only 16 Canadians in history as I was informed.. If it was not for that experience and the lessons I learned from that, I don’t know if I would have had what it took to get here. Only because of that experience, I was absolutely certain that this moment would come and only because of my certainty and the emphasis I place upon honouring those who are the guarantors of my freedom of expression, was I able to secure the financial backing needed in order to build this mint. This work is an expression of that commitment to that ethos and designed to literally last thousands of years, eternally echoing that sentiment through the ages.

Politics is downstream from culture, art is upstream from culture and I am the artist whose medium of expression is Canada. Full stop. Every coin I strike and ship is my way to refute those who stood in opposition to this and to live the old adage of….the best form of revenge is success. Absolutely none of this has been easy. Its unforgiving, precise, expensive, hyper detailed work and for a highly impatient artist, moving as fast as I do, its taken 5 years to get to this restart. I am immensely honoured and grateful to have been the recipient of all the trust and faith others have placed in me during these years and was honoured to provide the first prototype Centennial Silver Maple to the Commanding General of the Royal Canadian Air Force, LGen Eric “Slice” Kenny. As a one man operation for now, with the launch of the RCAF Centennial Maples and hopefully with a receptive market of like minded Canadians, it is my goal to build Beaverworks Mint into a powerhouse. There is no doubts now. Thank you for reading this and taking an interest in this dream of mine and we look forward to having you as one of our absolutely cherished collectors.

-Joseph Green B.FA

We Did It Canada!

We gave our word to Canada and we are keeping it

I can’t believe that I actually built a complete minting operation from scratch. Like who does that? 5 years….18000 hours, massive personal debt. My word is my bond and I will never break faith with those who serve this nation. Ever. The sacrifices I have had to endure are absolutely insignificant to the hardships of some wounded Veterans who have suffered immense hardship and neglect from their service. We as a nation owe them better. If I can’t endure the hardships that I have, given the serious injuries they have had to endure and demoralising conduct by the political class, then I wouldn’t be a very solid Canadian and certainly not someone who identifies to my core of my soul, as an Honourary Member of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. At no point will I ever allow myself nor this operation to do anything inappropriate, immoral, unethical or unlawful. If anything, I aim to set a higher benchmark as to how to do it right if given the opportunity. Life is short and I want my legacy of work to stand for something of meaning, honour, integrity and the core characteristics of what made this country the best place in the world. Full stop, no exceptions. I look forward to the day when I can live like a normal human again. “Whatever it takes!”…anything is possible, may this serve as a testament to that ethos. You can achieve anything as long as you commit to the task, never give up, never stop, learn how to love getting hit and beaten down and keep getting up. Eventually you will get there. One step at a time, always advancing forward.
